YouTube TV Customizable Multiview Launches Fully, Letting Subscribers Mix Any Live Channels Including Add-Ons

YouTube TV has introduced a fully customizable multiview feature that lets subscribers create their own split-screen layouts from any live content currently streaming on the platform. The rollout has begun and is expected to be available to all users over the next few weeks.

Previously, the multiview system limited users to pre-selected channel bundles chosen by Google. The new builder removes those restrictions, allowing users to combine channels across different subscription tiers.

What’s New in YouTube TV’s Custom Multiview

The most notable update is the ability to combine streams across package boundaries. Subscribers with both a standard YouTube TV plan and a premium add-on like NFL Sunday Ticket can now mix those streams into a single multiview layout without restrictions.

The builder interface features filter chips for quick browsing by category, including Recommended (which is personalized based on viewing history), Sports, News, Shows, Movies, and other live content.

Current Limitations of YouTube TV’s Multiview

Multiview currently supports only live content. Video on Demand and DVR recordings cannot be included in a multiview layout. Additionally, some family-friendly content is excluded from the customization tool. Compatibility with devices is generally broad but not universal.

Google notes that fewer than 5 percent of older devices lack the processing power needed for the full customization interface. Users with those devices will still be able to access a basic multiview builder that focuses on major events such as NFL games or the World Cup, rather than offering the complete channel selection tool.

When YouTube TV’s Custom Multiview Will Be Available to Everyone

The full customizable multiview feature is now rolling out and will be available to all compatible YouTube TV subscribers over the next few weeks. Users with incompatible older hardware will automatically receive a limited version. This article covers the same YouTube TV multiview story reported earlier.

The main update is that the feature is now confirmed to be fully launched, rather than in a limited rollout. Additionally, cross-package mixing, including NFL Sunday Ticket, is now explicitly confirmed. The earlier article can be updated with these details or used as a follow-up, given the full rollout confirmation.
