Housemarque has released the Zenith update for Saros, adding a New Game+ mode called Eclipse Layers, a boss rush mode with global leaderboards, and new accessibility options including a Slow Game Speed setting.
The update is available from October 19, 2026, at no additional charge for all Saros owners, according to a PlayStation Blog post by Abebe Tinari, Saros: Zenith Design Lead at Housemarque. The PlayStation Blog post does not list the update’s version number or download size.
Saros Zenith Adds Eclipse Layers and Overlord Rush
Eclipse Layers unlock after players clear Saros. New nodes appear in the Armor Matrix at Passage, and those nodes open the gate to the next Eclipse Layer, a harder version of the game with altered rules and deadlier enemies. Before each run, players choose a loadout of Carcosan Modifiers that must reach a set threshold of Trials.
Arjun wears a Crown during Eclipse Layers and his armor glows gold. The Crown grows as players add more Trials and raise their Modifier Balance. Housemarque has also added 12 collectible Visions, murals and messages carved by an ancient king, and some of their text can only be read at higher Crown levels.
Zenith adds 20 new Carcosan Modifiers, split into two groups:
- 10 Protection Modifiers that make the game easier, such as Corruption Melee Enhancement, which converts built up Corruption into extra melee damage
- 10 Trial Modifiers that raise the difficulty, such as Hostile Regeneration, which lets larger enemies recover from weapon stuns unless they are finished with a melee strike
Housemarque says there are 25 Trials in total for Eclipse Layers.
Overlord Rush is a training simulation where players race to defeat the Overlords from the main game. It is split into three Sets. Incursion and Ascension contain three Overlords each and take about 10 minutes, while Totality lines up all eight Overlords in one continuous gauntlet. Scores go to an integrated global leaderboard that can be filtered by Main Weapon.
New Accessibility Options in Saros
The Zenith update also targets players who find Saros too demanding. Slow Game Speed gives more time to react, and players control how much the game slows down. The setting can kick in automatically during combat or be toggled manually.
Auto-fire shoots the equipped weapon whenever the player aims at a hostile, though reloading stays manual. A new Motion Sensor Aiming option is available as well, alongside the existing button remapping.
Players who want to try the new content can follow these steps:
- Update Saros to the Zenith version.
- Open the Primary Unit in Passage to start Overlord Rush.
- Clear the main game, then use the new Armor Matrix nodes to enter the first Eclipse Layer.
Overlord Rush requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account, which means the boss rush mode and its leaderboards are not playable offline.
