Ubisoft Canceled 5 Unannounced Games In January

Ubisoft has canceled 5 games as part of its January 2026 restructuring, with only one title publicly confirmed by the company so far.

In late January, Ubisoft announced it was reorganizing into five genre-focused “Creative Houses,” alongside studio closures and targeted layoffs. At the time, the company confirmed that six projects had been canceled, but only named one: the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

A new update now claims to identify the remaining cancelled projects.

Ubisoft Cancellation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Ubisoft formally confirmed that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake was canceled as part of the company’s restructuring.

The remake of the 2003 title had been in development since 2020. No additional details about its cancellation were provided in the announcement.

The List of Ubisoft’s 5 Reportedly Canceled Games

According to the report, the following projects were also shelved in January 2026:

  • Project Aether
  • Project Pathfinder (previously known as Project U)
  • Project Crest
  • Assassin’s Creed Singularity
  • Continued support plans for Assassin’s Creed Rebellion

With the exception of Prince of Persia, these cancellations have not been publicly confirmed by Ubisoft.

1. Project Pathfinder (Project U)

Project Pathfinder, formerly referred to as Project U, was described as a session-based co-op shooter. It first surfaced publicly in September 2022.

The project reportedly underwent several beta tests before being rebooted in March 2024. Ubisoft had raised concerns about long-term engagement but opted to revisit the concept rather than cancel it at the time.

Ubisoft Annecy reportedly led development of the original version. Following the reboot, the project is said to have moved to a different studio. Its current development status appears to have ended with the January restructuring.

2. Project Crest

Project Crest is described in earlier 2025 rumors as a World War II-themed extraction shooter. No official details were ever released.

In the past, Ubisoft experimented with extraction-style gameplay elements in The Division’s Dark Zone mode, but Project Crest was reportedly intended as a standalone entry in the genre.

If the report is true, the project did not progress beyond early development.

3. Project Aether

Project Aether was reportedly in development at Ubisoft Halifax since 2019. No gameplay details have been confirmed publicly.

The closure of Ubisoft Halifax in January 2026 connects with the reported cancellation of the project.

4. Assassin’s Creed: Singularity

Assassin’s Creed Singularity was reportedly in development for several years for PC and mobile platforms.

Ubisoft has not acknowledged the project publicly. Its cancellation remains unconfirmed.

5. Assassin’s Creed Rebellion support plans

The 2018 mobile title Assassin’s Creed Rebellion was not a new project but reportedly had additional content planned.

While Ubisoft has not formally announced the end of support for the game, the shutdown of Ubisoft Halifax (its publisher and co-developer) suggests that no further updates are planned.

Why did Ubisoft cancellations happened?

Ubisoft’s restructuring followed what the company described as commercial underperformance, rising operating costs, and declining stock performance.

Several of the canceled games were still in early development. That likely reduced sunk development costs and made cancellation easier from a business perspective.

For players, the impact depends on which titles were being followed.

  • The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is officially canceled. There is no current release timeline.
  • Reported multiplayer projects such as Project Pathfinder and Project Crest are unlikely to resurface unless formally revived.
  • Fans of Assassin’s Creed Rebellion should not expect new content unless Ubisoft states otherwise.

If you are actively playing Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, it may be worth monitoring official channels for clarification on long-term server or content support.

Ubisoft has not confirmed the rumored projects individually. Aside from the Prince of Persia remake, the remaining cancellations are based on gossip and reports rather than direct statements from the company.
