Pokémon Unite, the free-to-play Pokémon MOBA on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, will shut down permanently on March 23, 2027, according to an official announcement. A gradual suspension of services started on October 27, 2026, and in-game purchases are the first thing to go. The gaming service will have run for more than five years by the time the servers close.
Pokémon Unite launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and arrived on iOS and Android in September 2021. The game was positioned as a more approachable MOBA, with short 10-minute matches and simplified mechanics compared with other games in the genre. Purchases of the in-game currency ended on the same day the shutdown was announced, so players only have their existing balances to work with for the remaining months.
Pokémon Unite Shutdown Timeline
The wind-down runs in stages between now and March:
- October 27, 2026: sales of Aeos gems stop, along with new Unite Club memberships and renewals.
- November 12, 2026: an update starts a final special event that hands out items such as all Unite licenses and Holoware that have appeared in the game.
- December 5, 2026: qualifiers for the Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament run as planned.
- March 23, 2027: the game goes offline, and players can no longer log in or play battles.
Existing Unite Club members keep their benefits until their current membership period ends. The announcement does not mention refunds for unused Aeos gems or for previous purchases.
Library Feature Must Be Downloaded Before March 23
The only part of Pokémon Unite that remains usable after the shutdown is a library feature. It lets players view certain records and in-game content they collected. Battles, matchmaking, and log-ins all end on March 23, so the library is the only way to look back at an account once the servers are gone. The library has to be downloaded before March 23, 2027, and it cannot be obtained after that date.
Players who want to keep access to their records should take these steps before the deadline:
- Use any remaining Aeos gems before the shutdown, since no new gems can be bought and the announcement does not mention refunds.
- Log in after the November 12 update to collect the event rewards, including the Unite licenses and Holoware.
- Download the library feature on each device where the records should stay viewable.
Unite Club renewals are already suspended, so existing memberships simply run until the end of their current period. Competitive players can still enter the Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo qualifiers on December 5. The announcement does not say whether the library feature will receive updates after the servers shut down.
