TikTok has revealed that it will be introducing four new features to the comment section over the coming month, such as voice comments and polls.
These features are being introduced at different times, with a few of them available this week and the rest coming next month. The new features make the comments more visual and interactive by including audio comments of up to 60 seconds, polls with up to five options, Live Photos, and multi-photo carousels.
Text and photo comments are still available. Thursday, TikTok revealed the features.
TikTok Adds Voice Comments, Polls, and Live Photos
From next month, TikTok will be offering voice comments that can last up to 60 seconds. According to TikTok’s press release, users will be able to attach a text comment to a voice comment, just as is the case with photo comments. This means that in addition to the existing options of text and photo, audio comments will now be available as well.
From this week onwards, creators will be able to include polls in the comments section of their videos, with each poll having up to five possible voting options.
They can decide how long the voting will continue for and will be able to see the votes as they happen. This could be useful for creators of all sizes who want to get feedback from their viewers, providing an alternative to asking for people’s opinions directly in the comments.
TikTok has now added the option to include Live Photos in comments, alongside static images. Since users are already familiar with the ability to add GIFs to comments, it is not clear how extensively Live Photo comments will be used.
TikTok Photo Carousels in Comments
TikTok is developing the ability for users to include up to nine photos in a single comment. Just as with regular carousels, viewers will be able to swipe through the photos, even when using the full-screen view. The feature will be rolled out during the course of the month.
The four features are being introduced at different times. Polls are being launched this week, voice comments will come next month and photo carousels will be introduced over the course of the month.
Support for Live Photos is said to be currently available. It does not state whether the rollouts are carried out by region or by platform, so availability might differ from account to account as TikTok introduces each feature.
